I have been playing guitar for over 30 years, and teach a variety of styles including rock, pop, metal, blues, folk and country. I
have a solid background in music theory which I believe to be
important in laying the building blocks for any good musician. I take a more alternative/modern approach to teaching guitar, not focusing
on old regimented theory books, more on teaching the skills needed to
play as part of a band or individually, focusing on making the learning experience enjoyable as well as educational. I teach both theory (chord
charts/theory, scales, songwriting etc) and practical (technique,
learning songs and just jamming!), with emphasis on the individual needs and interests of each of my students. My goal as a teacher is to impart the basic principles of my chosen art to my students, in the hopes that they will take what they learn, internalize it, and through the application of musical creativity, use it as a means of personal expression.
